The Vanlene Wreck
Below Barkley Sound, the Vanlene keeps a quieter kind of history — as a dive site, not a monument.
A wreck you dive, not visit
The Vanlene belongs to the underwater side of Bamfield. Cold water, kelp, current — and a hull that has become habitat.
Wrecks become reefs
Given time, every wreck here becomes real estate for marine life. That is the second story of every sinking.
Ask a diver
Conditions, marine life, how the site changes year to year — the people who dive it carry the current version. If that is you, the archive wants your notes.
